I am a Minneapolis-based dancer, burlesque performer, producer and entrepreneur who was searching for the perfect way to experience a pin-up photo shoot with someone who made me feel celebrated regardless of my age, experience with modeling (I have some but in varied artistic contexts), queer identity and status as a single parent. I also - of course! - wanted to work with someone who made me look absolutely fabulous!
I learned about Christi (Grinkie Girls) through social media posts by other Twin Cities-based performers. One in particular that I was drawn to was a simulated rain photo shoot with a local Drag King whom I adore both personally and professionally. When I saw those images, I knew Christi was someone I could trust. I was also enthralled by the amount of creative freedom she seemed to possess.
From the moment I booked my photo session at The Zebra House (which is an incredible location run by the fabulous Anne Marie!), I received quick communication from Christi, full of details I needed to make the photo shoot the best experience possible for everyone involved. At one point, I even requested that my time slot be changed and Christi - without hesitation and while on vacation with her family - reached out to the other individual modelling during that time slot and was able to switch us around.
Christi also made a point to connect with me via phone conversation before the shoot so that I could address any questions and/or concerns I had before working in that space with her designated stylist and collection of costume pieces.
I arrived at the shoot and was immediately welcomed into the space, given a tour and made sure I was fed. The clothing, shoes and jewelry provided were all truly stunning and I couldn't have been happier about my hair and make-up!
The group engaged in incredibly fulfilling conversation, the space was filled with background music and Christi's enthusiasm about my being there made me feel like the center of attention, which really helped me feel confident in front of the camera!
I can't say enough about how awesome it has been getting to know Christi as an artist, entrepreneur and fellow bad ass! I highly recommend working with her and investing in your own adventure/fantasy with Grinkie Girls Photography!
